Her father owned property and wanted the family’s wealth to remain within the family. When Saad proposed, he refused. Sabrin argued that she loved Saad and did not care about inheritance. Her father treated that choice as a threat to his plans.
A marriage chosen for her
Saad tried proposing again. Sabrin’s father threatened to remove his family from the building. When Sabrin continued protesting, her father assaulted her so severely that her arm was broken.
Under pressure from her parents and relatives, she agreed to marry her cousin Salem, who was two years older. Salem had physical health difficulties, and the marriage lacked the companionship and intimacy Sabrin had hoped for. His condition does not excuse the family’s decision to force either of them into a relationship built around property.
At the wedding, Saad came to greet her. Sabrin became overwhelmed and embraced him. Her father struck Saad in front of the guests. Saad walked away to avoid making the confrontation worse, and the celebration ended in tears.
Sabrin felt isolated in her new home. When she told her mother that she had been buried alive by the arrangement, her mother cried but offered no way out.
Reconnecting with Saad
Later, Sabrin met Saad at the market. They exchanged numbers and began speaking again. She told him about the marriage and reminded him of his promise not to abandon her.
Sabrin learned that her parents would be away and arranged to visit Saad, using a trip to the family building as cover. He had prepared food and welcomed her warmly. Both were adults during this encounter. They began an affair that continued for more than a year.
To Sabrin, the relationship felt like reclaiming the life her father had taken from her. But it remained a secret within an unresolved marriage, and she relied on a promise Saad had never been required to prove under difficult circumstances.
The pregnancy changed his answer
When a doctor confirmed that she was pregnant, Sabrin initially felt happy. She believed Saad would welcome the news. Instead, he questioned whether the child was his.
She told him that she had not had an intimate relationship with Salem and that Saad knew the circumstances. He continued denying responsibility. The man whose rejection by her family had once broken her heart was now rejecting her himself.
By the time she tells the story, Sabrin is three months pregnant. She has not described telling Salem or resolving the conflict with her family. She feels trapped between the marriage imposed on her and the man who will not acknowledge her account.
The story ends with her asking what she can do next. There is no confirmed reconciliation, separation, or resolution of the child’s paternity in this part of her story.
